Abacus is an IB World School. Teachers skillfully use the IB Primary Years Programme to engage our learners in a challenging and meaningful curriculum. Through play, the children learn to be independent thinkers and successful collaborators. The environment at Abacus is language-rich for the children in both our Bilingual and English classrooms.

One of the best things about Abacus is the community it has built. As a family, we are proud to tell others that our children attend the school as it's well known that children who go through Abacus and the ESF system as a whole are really wonderful, caring and bright. The themes around how to structure learning throughout the school year are really well thought out, especially for the age that Abacus looks after. Learning through play is so important for children especially in Hong Kong and this generation when parents can fall down the slippery slope of over-scheduling. I know that if my children did nothing else outside of school they would be incredibly fulfilled because of the learning environment built by Abacus.
One of the best things about Abacus is the community it has built. Before applying to Abacus we were told what a beautiful community it was, but it was not until our son joined the school that we could quite grasp the extent of this community and the supportive, nurturing, inclusive nature that it harbours. What's New at Abacus?
As part of their inquiry, the children have explored colour mixing to find what they saw as the right tones to paint their skin. They enjoyed adding different materials to complete their self-portraits.

The children's inquiry into the different ways that people share their ideas and feelings has led to lots of exploration of different ways to use colour. Spray bottles of coloured paint have brought about so much joy and conversation as the colours mix.
We have also seen the K1 children dancing and singing at every opportunity. We are grateful to Josh from Move For Life for his energy and enthusiasm as he led the children and their families through some moves during the Celebration of Learning! @moveforlife.asia

The environment was an invitation to the children to share how and what they had learned in their latest inquiry into How We Express Ourselves. Listening to the children's play, you could see and hear their growth this year as learners. They showed their self-management skills as they chose tools and selected materials to make mark-making with, their social skills as they interacted with their classmates, and their creative thinking was everywhere. We heard parents asking reflective questions like "What are you proud of?" "How did you decide to choose that colour?" "Where did you get that idea from?". It was lovely to see the engagement. Thank you to all the families who came. #familypartnership #PYPEarlyYears

Splash Day at Abacus! A yearly tradition to end the year, and so much fun is had by children and staff alike. The giggles and excitement as the children explore all the water play are wonderful to hear.
Families got artistic on our K2 sharing day and created some lovely keepsakes to celebrate the end of the children's Abacus adventures. We wish all our graduates the best of luck as they move on to primary school.
