A snapshot of how the learning in K1 was documented during the children's inquiry into how they can respond to ideas, experiences and their thinking. By listening carefully to the children and celebrating their chosen play, we learn so much.
As part of their inquiry, the children have explored colour mixing to find what they saw as the right tones to paint their skin. They enjoyed adding different materials to complete their self-portraits.

The children's inquiry into the different ways that people share their ideas and feelings has led to lots of exploration of different ways to use colour. Spray bottles of coloured paint have brought about so much joy and conversation as the colours mix.
We have also seen the K1 children dancing and singing at every opportunity. We are grateful to Josh from Move For Life for his energy and enthusiasm as he led the children and their families through some moves during the Celebration of Learning! @moveforlife.asia
Our K1 learners loved welcoming their families into school for their final Celebration of Learning for the year. The environment was an invitation to the children to share how and what they had learned in their latest inquiry into How We Express Ourselves. Listening to the children's play, you could see and hear their growth this year as learners. They showed their self-management skills as they chose tools and selected materials to make mark-making with, their social skills as they interacted with their classmates, and their creative thinking was everywhere. We heard parents asking reflective questions like "What are you proud of?" "How did you decide to choose that colour?" "Where did you get that idea from?". It was lovely to see the engagement. Thank you to all the families who came. #familypartnership #PYPEarlyYears
A big well done to our K2 children and thank you to our families for visiting school this week to celebrate all of the children's learning. The children shared the performances, artwork and stories that they created during their inquiry into How We Express Ourselves. #PYPlearners
What a great way to end the year! Splash Day is a favourite for everyone at Abacus- children and teaching team alike.
Splash Day at Abacus! A yearly tradition to end the year, and so much fun is had by children and staff alike. The giggles and excitement as the children explore all the water play are wonderful to hear.
Families got artistic on our K2 sharing day and created some lovely keepsakes to celebrate the end of the children's Abacus adventures. We wish all our graduates the best of luck as they move on to primary school.
